Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts – Sea of Savings

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts

Valentines Day is just around the corner and each year it’s my hubby and my daughter and she likes our Valentines Day dinner “fancy” so I break out the wine glasses and pour her milk in it and use nice dishes to make it something fun and special for us all.  Every year I make a special Valentines Day treat and these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Hearts have become my favorite!  Everyone thinks of chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day but these are made to form hearts and they are filled with marshmallow creme!  YUM!! So much better than those chocolates from the store. I think you’ll agree ;-)

Directions:

To construct Your Hearts

1. Pull the stem off and slice in half down the middle and use a small knife to cut out the middle of each half (top right-hand

2. Stick a toothpick through each half to attach them. It should look like this

3. Be sure your strawberries are pretty dry so that the marshmallow will stick to the berry easier. You can use a paper towel to do this.

4. Use a butter knife, small knife or spoon to scoop and spread marshmallow into each half.

5. Add chocolate chips to a small bowl and microwave for 30 seconds at a time to melt the chips. You can also add a small amount of oil to your chips if you would like a smoother texture. I added a dab of coconut oil.

6. Dollop the chocolate onto the strawberries and marshmallow. Carefully use a small knife or spoon to spread the chocolate so that it pours over the sides and into the creases so that the strawberries will be “stuck” together when the chocolate

7. Once the red chocolate hardens, pick up chocolate covered strawberry and shake off excess.
