I am continuing my series on 30 Ways to Earn Cash for Christmas. If you missed out on the previous posts you can go back and read them here.
Cleaning houses/offices is an excellent way to make a little extra money and work it around your schedule. Plus this is something that requires virtually no start up cost out of pocket as them items you need you probably already have in your home. Let’s face it many people work 40+ hours per week and the last thing they want to do is spend their extra time off work cleaning.
The best place to start would be if you already know someone who cleans houses. Ask them if they need an extra hand or if you could sub for them if they have an appointment they are unable to make. You could also hand out fliers, advertise your self on Craigslist or a local Facebook page that might list local businesses in the area. Once you have a few clients under your belt start saving aside some of your money to replenish your cleaning supplies and to gain more customers you might let your clients know they will get a few dollars off the next service if they refer you to their friends. Word of mouth advertising is often the best there is!
To find out how much to charge you could call other cleaning businesses in the area and ask for their rates. Typically people will pay at least $2o per hour and many places range from $20-$30. You could also advertise your services or look for additional cleaning jobs on Taskrabbit.
Do any of you have experience cleaning houses or offices? If so I would love to hear your thoughts and tips!
